The Cubs and Astros were two of the worst teams just a few seasons ago, but with recent changes they are both contenders. The most recent change was a trade between the two teams, sending Dexter Fowler to the Cubs, addressing the cubs issue in the outfield. The Astros receive Luis Valbuena addressing their issue at third base at which they previously had Matt Dominguez whose WAR last season was -1.6 third worst of all batters in the majors. The Astros also receive Dan Straily a young pitcher who looked poised for a strong career in 2012 and '13 when he was the 73rd prospect (2012), and then the 4th in rookie of the year voting (2013). The Cubs and Astros are able to give up Fowler because of a recent trade for Evan Gattis from the Braves, and the Cubs have both Mike Olt and the 3rd best prospect (ranked by MLB Pipeline) Kris Bryant. |
