The pitching market has narrowed down dramatically in recent days, as was expected after Lester signed. Through trades and signings the most recent to hit the news is Ervin Santana. The 31 year old was not able to sign until just days before the season began in 2014 and had to settle for a one year deal with the Braves, but this year he was able to sign a four year $54 million contract sending him to Minnesota. Santana has walked the line between ace and #2 starter most of his career, but will almost certainly be the ace in Minnesota ahead of the undervalued Phil Hughes as #2. |
