The Pirates have agreed to terms with Francisco Liriano today. The deal is a three year contract worth $39 million. This deal narrows down the free agent market, just this morning I reported that Francisco Liriano was the fourth best starting pitcher on the free agent market in my breakdown of the pitching market. The Pirates have a solid team that is hoping to contend next year, and Liriano is an important part of that team. We will see what other moves the Pirates make this offseason to boost their chances. Perhaps they will go for resigning Edinson Volquez as well. |
