On day one of the winter meetings the Wite Sox and Athletics were the big movers. The White Sox traded for Jeff Samardzija and signed David Robertson, and the Athletics traded both Smardzija and Brandon Moss. David Robertson agreed to terms to a four year deal with the White Sox that will have him closing for the White Sox in years to come. The deal has a value of at least $40 million and will have him leading a young and talented bullpen that underperformed last year partly due to the lack of a leading closer such as Robertson. The White Sox also have participated in picking at the pieces of the A's that are on sale for prospects right now having right now and picked up Jeff Samardzija. In return the A's have receive 24 year old infielder Marcus Semien and two prospects. |
