The Dodgers have won their division both of the last two seasons and after their recent sweep of the Giants they are the most likely candidates to win the division in 2015. Today they called up MLB's #2 prospect Corey Seager to help their race for the postseason. The effect of September call-ups on the postseason is well established and makes the playoffs even more exciting. One of the most recent examples was Xander Bogaerts of the 2013 Boston Red Sox, both were #2 prospects at shortstop and were called up to help when rosters expanded I believe Seager will perform a similar role similarly well to Xander Bogaerts as a high performing pinch hitter and backup infielder (Bogaerts behind Stephen Drew and Seager behind Jimmy Rollins) Xander Bogaerts had a .357 OBP for the red sox in September and the postseason and scored 9 of the Red Sox runs in the postseason I believe Corey Seager will be similarly helpful to the Dodgers. Seager has done well at triple-A Oklahoma City this season and his call-up will give the Dodgers deep and strong pinch hitter access for the postseason once Howie Kendrick and Yasiel Puig get back from the DL they will join Corey Seager, Jose Peraza (mostly a pinch-runner), and Scott Van Slyke as one of the deepest benches in baseball.
